When a worker has an accident at work, the employer is obliged to report the accident to the Danish authorities.

Companies with a Danish business registration number (CVR) must report work accidents digitally via EASY, which is a is a common reporting system for the Labour Market Insurance and the Working Environment Authority.

Access to EASY requires a NemID employee signature with rights to EASY.

Report a work accident with a Danish CVR number (Business in Denmark)

Foreign service providers that do not have a Danish CVR number can report a work accident via a special entry to EASY. In this case, the company must use its RUT number, i.e. the number it received upon notification to the Register for Foreign Service Providers (RUT).

If the company has neither a CVR nor RUT number, the company or the injured party can report the accident on paper. The form for notification is available from the Labour Market Insurance (Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssikring).

When to report a work accident

The employer is obliged to report an accident at work:

  • if it means that the person can not perform his usual work for 1 day or more in addition to the injury date. The reporting must be made within 9 days from the first day of absence, cf. the Working Environment Act
  • if the injured person can be entitled to compensation under the Occupational Injury Act (eg compensation for permanent loss or loss of employment). The reporting must be made no later than 9 days after the accident date.
  • if the injured person has not resumed his work to the full extent at the latest 5 weeks after the accident, cf. the Workers' Compensation Act.
